No, our rooms are designed for relaxation and connection with nature. However, we offer high-speed WiFi if you wish to stream on your personal device.

Yes, we recommend bringing reef-safe, oil-based insect repellent made with natural ingredients. Mosquitoes and sandflies can be present, particularly around sunrise and sunset. We also sell a locally made, eco-friendly option at the hotel.

Puerta Azul is nestled along a stretch of seabed flats, offering a serene and natural beachfront setting. A slim stretch of sand along the shore is perfect for smaller children to play in, while the dock extends 400 feet into the sea, leading to a sandy-bottomed area ideal for snorkeling.

No, but as a beachfront property, the sea is just steps away. Our private dock offers a peaceful place to sunbathe, swim, or snorkel.

Complimentary breakfast is served from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. We begin serving lunch at 12:00 PM, with dinner service going until 8:00 PM. As everything is prepared from scratch, we ask that all orders for dinner be placed no later than 7:00 PM. 

On Sundays, we offer a limited menu until 3:00 PM. Please inform the manager by 4:00 PM if you will need a ride into town for dinner.

Yes! While our intimate setting is perfect for couples and solo travelers, we also welcome families. Kids love exploring Roatan’s shoreline, kayaking, and spotting marine life from our dock.

Reservations & Billing

Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out is subject to availability at no extra charge. Please note that the managers are on-site until 4:30 PM.

Any additional charges, including food, beverages, tours, and gift shop purchases, will be added to your room bill throughout your stay. The final balance is payable at check-out via a valid credit card or cash.

We always recommend purchasing travel insurance for peace of mind. For emergencies, Unimed medical center is nearby, and local pharmacies also offer delivery services for minor medical needs.

If you need to cancel your reservation, the credit from your deposit can be applied toward a new reservation within six months of your original check-in date. Please keep in mind that this flexible policy applies to direct bookings only.

When booking through a third party, cancellations within 30 days of your check-in date, early departures, late arrivals, and no-shows will be charged the full cost of the stay in accordance with the third party’s terms.

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover unexpected cancellations due to COVID/illness, travel restrictions, or airline disruptions to Roatan.

While we are more than happy to assist with any questions or requests, changes to bookings made through third-party sites (such as Expedia or Booking.com) must be managed directly through that platform.

Roatan Island

Yes, Roatan is a generally safe destination. As with any place, we recommend using common sense, such as avoiding poorly lit areas at night and securing your valuables. The local community is welcoming, and tourism is a big part of the island’s culture.

Brushing your teeth with tap water is safe, but we do not recommend drinking it. We provide purified drinking water in every room and encourage guests to bring reusable water bottles to minimize plastic waste.

Both English and Spanish are widely spoken on Roatan Island. Most tour guides will speak English, while you will get to practice your Spanish with taxi drivers and local vendors!

Roatan accepts both U.S. dollars (USD) and Honduran lempiras (HNL). There are no official currency exchange services on the island, so we recommend bringing enough with you or using the ATMs, which will dispense local currency. If you do bring cash, bring small denominations in pristine condition; no tears or marks, as the banks will not accept damaged bills.

Roatan Island is a year-round destination, but the experience varies by season:

  • For the best weather and fewer crowds, May through September offers sunny skies, warm temperatures, and calmer seas. This time of year is ideal for people hoping to snorkel and dive the majority of their trip.
  • Our peak season runs from December to April. This is when we see the most visitors, however this period also overlaps with the Roatan’s rainy season, where passing showers can range from a few minutes to a few days.
  • Our hottest months are August and September, while our wettest months are October through January.

Transport

Yes, we offer transfers to and from the airport or ferries for $25 each way for up to 4 people. Coming from somewhere else on the Island? Let us know and we will get you a quote!

Rental cars are only necessary if you plan on moving around Roatan Island a lot. If you do decide to rent a car, we recommend Hamilton Car Rentals who offer sedans for $55 and SUVs for $75 per day. Please note this cost does not include fuel or potential damages to the car.

That being said, we work with a wonderful group of private drivers who can take you anywhere you need to go; from West Bay to full day Island Tours.
