Garifuna Festival

Modular REEF
The Modular REEF (Roatan Electronic Experience Festival) is Roatan’s premier electronic music event, featuring local and international DJs set against the island’s stunning coastal backdrop. With vibrant visuals, immersive sound experiences, and a lively community atmosphere, it’s a must for electronic music lovers. The 2026 Festival will take place June 13th to 15th.
Mango Festival
Mango season is one of the sweetest times of year on the island! The Mango Festival is a multi-day celebration of exactly that, showcasing local farmers and artisans creations using the fruit. ACROPORA Eco Trail Run
Since 2017, the ACROPORA Eco Trail Run has invited runners of all levels to explore Roatan’s lush trails while supporting conservation. Typically occurring in August and organized by the Bay Islands Conservation Association (BICA), this event raises awareness about coral reef preservation and plastic reduction. Proceeds fund coral restoration, community development, and waste management initiatives.
Roatan International Fishing Tournament
Every September, Roatan plays host for the prestigious International Fishing Tournament. Drawing anglers from all over the world, for four days participants gather to compete, reconnect, and soak in the island’s magic. And as a catch-and-release tournament, the event prioritizes sustainability and the protection of Roatan’s precious marine ecosystems. Each day of the tournament includes its own carnival that spills into the streets of West End. Music, lights, and local food stands adorn the road, turning the village into a joyful celebration of community and culture.
Golden Buoy Dive Olympics
We said there are more things to do in Roatan besides diving, but the Dive Shop Olympics don’t count. Every year between September and November, participating dive shops on Roatan host their own unique event to try to raise funds for the SOL Foundation. The event culminates at the Dive Shop Olympics, a grand celebration where all the shops partake in hilarious activities, like an egg eating competition, with the winning shop getting to display the coveted Golden Buoy for one year. A playful yet purposeful event that supports education and programs for local youth.
