Welcome To Roatan Island
Roatan sits about 40 miles off the northern coast of Honduras, the largest of the Bay Islands. Spanning 48 miles long and barely 5 miles across, the island is wrapped on all sides by the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest coral reef system in the world. Sandy Bay is on Roatan’s calmer north shore, tucked between the reef and the jungle. Puerta Azul is right there: 15 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from West End, and about as easy to get to as a place this beautiful can possibly be.
Getting From the Airport to Sandy Bay
Roatan’s Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport (RTB) is a small, easy airport, you’ll be through arrivals quickly.
Puerta Azul Boutique Hotel is a 15-minute drive from the terminal, heading west along the coast road. We’re happy to offer airport pick-up for standard rate of $25 for up to 4 people.
Local taxis are also available at the airport as well, just ask your driver for “the Blue Door” at Puerta Azul in Sandy Bay.
- 15 min from Roatan Airport (RTB)
- 10 min from West End

Coming from West End or West Bay? Head east along the main road and look for the Puerta Azul sign on your right, just past Lawson Rock, across from the car wash and mini-market.
