In August 2015, she left her 400-square-foot apartment in Manhattan’s East Village to pursue her dream of opening a bed and breakfast on a tropical island far removed from the confines of the concrete jungle.
In just four short months they tirelessly worked to create a space meant for the modern traveler, adventurer, culturalist, foodie, snorkeler, and temporary Roatan resident.
From the pop of seafoam green of the Casita, to the lush flora and fauna, including a mango tree that takes over the oceanfront bungalows –Puerta Azul is a destination in itself. The ocean sits calmly, waiting for you to dig your toes into its sandy edge, while the well-preserved coral reef is just a short swim away. Puerta Azul means “Blue Door” in Spanish, which is brought to life by the actual blue door that sits at the entrance of the property’s elaborate dock.
With a relaxed atmosphere, upscale beachfront accommodations and a friendly team to provide personalized experiences, guests can spend the day relaxing in a hammock, snorkeling the crystal blue waters and feasting on fresh local island fare. Or let us help you experience all the island has to offer which may leave you wishing you were here to stay.
