Roatan Guide: 6 Places To Capture The Perfect Instagram Picture

No vacation is complete without a plethora of pictures showcasing your once-in-a-lifetime adventures. Luckily, we know the prime locations around Roatan to not only enjoy yourself, but capture your vacation in the best light possible.

the 6 most “instagram-able” spots on Roatan!

Roatan Guide - Best Instagram Pictures - Puerta Azul

The Blue Door At Puerta Azul

You know we couldn’t post this list without including the iconic blue door at our very own (and aptly named) Puerta Azul. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant doors found throughout the Mediterranean, Puerta Azul’s dock provides visitors with a unique focal point before leading them to Roatan’s most prized possession – her coastline. The blue door is both a gateway to paradise, and the perfect prop for pictures!

Flower's Bay Roatan Sign

Every Caribbean vacation requires a picture in front of “the sign.” You know the one – an ubiquitous symbol that has taken Central America by storm! Colorful, strategically placed, and an inherent promise of all the things the destination has to offer. Our very own “Roatan” sign stands proudly in Flowers Bay, a scenic coastal community along the South shore. Stop by one of the many food stalls along the road, or grab a maiz pastelito from the gas station before snapping a pic and continuing on your island adventure!

Roatan Guide - Best Instagram Pictures - Mayan Eden

The Bridge at Mayan Eden

Escape to the jungle at Mayan Eden, located just outside of Coxen Hole. The adventure begins with a walk through dense foliage, where you will be greeted by capuchin monkeys and replicas of Mayan-inspired ruins before traversing through a butterfly garden. Here is where your main photo-op appears – a very long and very high suspension bridge. Once you’re across, enjoy more interactive experiences with kinkajous, toucans, sloths, macaws, and more!

Edge of the Universe

Located on Roatan’s east end, Paya Bay is a haven for those seeking both seclusion and immersion in nature. $5 will get you a day pass to explore Paya Bay’s myriad of manicured trails and hidden treasures. We recommend snapping some pictures at “The Edge of The Universe” – which offers an unbeatable vantage point of the Caribbean Sea and one of Paya’s natural beaches – before further venturing along the private coves, ridges, cliffs, rock formations, and wetlands.

Kao Kamasa Spa

Kao Kamasa Spa, located at the Grand Roatan in West Bay, is an architectural dream. Treat yourself to a day of luxury and relaxation before treating your insta followers to views of the serene spaces, all inspired by a Northeast Honduran group known as the Pesh. After your treatment, you will rotate through a series of plunge pools before finally ending the day in a cliffside lagoon with views of the Caribbean sea. Talk about picture-perfect!

Roatan Guide - Best Instagram Pictures - Mangrove Tunnels

Jonesville Mangroves

Thought to have originated as a safe transportation network for the Paya Indians (Roatan’s original inhabitants), the mangrove tunnels in Jonesville now stand out as one of the island’s most unique landmarks. Known as the Venice of Roatan, enjoy gliding through the intricate canopy of red mangroves; peering between their roots to spot juvenile stingrays, or simply basking in the play of light filtering through the foliage above.

These excursions are only the start! Roatan is brimming with countless other areas waiting to be explored.
