Best Activities For A Rainy Day In Roatan
It’s officially the rainy season in Roatan! While known for her stunning beaches and turquoise waters, the island’s rainy season has its own necessary charm. These short but sweet showers fill the natural springs, bring out the lush greenery of our foliage, and help lower water temperatures for the reef. Although you may not find yourself sunbathing as often as you’d like, there are plenty of rainy day activities that ensure your Roatan vacation is still packed with adventure, relaxation, and fun!
Here are our favorite ways to make the most of a rainy day in Roatan:
Take A Chocolate-Making Class
What better way to pass the time than learning a new skill, sipping on hot chocolate, and snacking on free samples? If this sounds like your cup of tea – er, chocolate – then you should head to the Roatan Chocolate Factory in West End! This hands-on experience will not only teach you the art of chocolate-making, but introduce you to the people and environment the cacao is sourced from. All while giving back to protect the rainforest! And did we mention the free samples???
Visit Roatan Island Brewing Co.
Is it raining? If so, you should pay a visit to the Brewery, whose jungle surroundings, plethora of board games, and excellent food won’t have you missing out on a beach day at all! The locally made craft beer is pretty good, too. And if beer isn’t your jam, there are plenty of other non-alcoholic options to enjoy – like kombucha and soursop tea.
Go Scuba Diving on the South Side
Whether you’re already certified or looking to try it out, going scuba diving is the perfect rainy day activity in Roatan. After all, you’re going to get wet anyways! Might as well see an eagle ray or a grouper along with it. Thanks to the topography of the island, rainy season will often find dive operators moving to the South Side of the island. There, the conditions remain incredible even when there are winds from the North!
